The best point to point river swim race in New Zealand. Starting at the source of the Waikato River you will swim through some amazing scenery. Past 150 foot cliff walls, through the boiling waters of Hells Gate, watch jumpers fly from Taupo Bungy and then down towards Huka Falls, leaving the water at Reids Farm where you will have completed a fantatsic 3.3 km course. This year we are adding a Drift Division for all those that want to experience one of the best stretches of river Taupo has to offer with all the safety in the world, but dont want the pressure to perform.

New Challenges
We will challenge not only your abilities as a swimmer but also your ability to navigate a river.
To compete in this race you will have to use the river, find the fast flowing channels and avoid the back flowing eddies. Picking the best line will save you minutes and a whole lot of effort.

New Drift Division
We at The Huka Xstreme River Swim think we have one of the most scenic swims on the planet and so this year we want to open up a drift division to allow the less competitive among us to enjoy all that this stretch of river has to offer in the knowledge that you will have the best safety support around.
We will provide safety kayakers and Rafts for people to jump in and out of as the need arises and allow you to drift down the river past the bungy site, Hells Gate, and The natural hot spring at Spa Thermal Park and on to Reads Farm. Count the fish on the way and lap up the very essence of NZ.

When : 11th Febuary, 10 am (Allow time for Pre Race Safety Brief)
Where : Taupo Control Gates Lagoon Reserve (see the map)
Who : You and your mates.
How : Fill out the registration form and pay $30 Entry Fee and get it to us. If you swam last year and keen to do it again, we love your loyalty so you get it for $25. If you slow to commit it will be $40 on the day).

Your Safety
Your safety and the safety of all your fellow competitors are our primary concern. There will be Kayak support along the course of the race with the Harbour Master providing a jet that will have Paramedics on board to ensure the safest possible swim. There will be a compulsory Briefing at 9:45 at the start of the race this is to inform you of all of the important safety information, you will not be permitted to start if you are not present.
